Strategic Advice for What Comes Next

When your family, finances, or future are at stake, having the right legal advice can make all the difference. Ravneet Ghotra practises in family law and wills, estates and probate, providing clients with clear advice, thoughtful strategy, and practical guidance through important and often difficult moments in their lives.

Ravneet understands that legal problems can quickly become overwhelming. She takes the time to understand what is happening, explain how British Columbia law applies to your circumstances, and help you make informed decisions about what comes next.

In her family law practice, Ravneet assists clients with separation, parenting and guardianship disputes, child and spousal support, family property, relocation, family violence and protection orders, and child protection matters. She also assists clients with wills, estate planning, probate, and estate administration.

Clear Advice. Strong Strategy. Relentless Preparation.

Ravneet believes clients should understand their own case. Family law can become complicated quickly, but the advice you receive should not be.

She explains the law in clear, practical terms and ensures her clients understand their options, the potential consequences of their decisions, and the strategy being pursued on their behalf. Every family is different, so Ravneet begins by understanding what matters most to the client—whether that means protecting their relationship with their children, achieving financial stability, preserving family property, leaving an unsafe situation, or bringing a long-standing dispute to an end.

Her advice is candid and results-focused. Ravneet believes effective advocacy is not about creating unnecessary conflict. It is about knowing when to negotiate, when to stand firm, and when court intervention is necessary.

Most importantly, she prepares. When a client trusts her with a matter involving their children, family, finances, or future, Ravneet takes that responsibility seriously.

In Your Corner — In and Out of Court

Where a family law matter can be resolved through negotiation, Ravneet works toward practical solutions that can reduce the time, expense, and uncertainty of litigation. When an agreement cannot be reached, she is prepared to advocate firmly for her clients in court.

Ravneet has represented clients before both the Provincial Court and Supreme Court of British Columbia, including at hearings and trials. Her experience includes parenting and guardianship disputes, child and spousal support, family property, relocation, family violence and protection orders, and child protection matters.

Going to court can be unfamiliar and intimidating. Ravneet prepares her clients for the process, explains what to expect, discusses the strengths and challenges of their case, and makes sure they understand the strategy being pursued.

Whether the solution is found across a negotiating table or inside a courtroom, Ravneet will be in your corner.

Selected Decisions

  • Cornwell v. Cornwell, 2026 BCSC 736: Successfully acted for the respondent in setting aside a protection order made without notice under the Family Law Act. The Court found that, although some communications between the parties were hostile and could constitute psychological or emotional abuse, the evidence did not establish that family violence was likely to occur in the future. The protection order was set aside and replaced with reciprocal conduct orders requiring communications to be in writing or through counsel and to remain polite and respectful.
