“Every person deserves to be heard, understood, and strongly represented.”
Isha Ghotra
Criminal Defence Lawyer | Family Lawyer
Strong Advocacy When the Stakes Are High
Isha is dedicated to providing thoughtful, strategic, and compassionate advocacy to clients navigating some of the most difficult and consequential moments of their lives.
With a primary focus on criminal defence, Isha understands that being accused of a crime can be overwhelming and deeply personal. She believes every person is entitled to fair process, meaningful representation, and to be treated with dignity throughout the legal process.
Isha approaches each matter with careful attention to the individual circumstances of the client. She takes the time to understand what is at stake, explain the legal process clearly, and develop a strategy tailored to the client’s needs and objectives.
Criminal Defence Built on Preparation
Isha completed her articles at an established criminal defence firm in Vancouver, where she gained experience working on a broad range of criminal matters, including serious and complex files.
That experience gave her firsthand exposure to the demands of high-stakes criminal litigation and reinforced the importance of meticulous preparation, sound legal strategy, and effective advocacy.
During her articles, Isha also gained experience with criminal appellate work, including assisting with the preparation and drafting of factums for criminal appeals. This strengthened her ability to analyze complex factual and legal issues and gave her valuable insight into appellate advocacy.
Whether a matter is resolved through negotiation, litigation, or appeal, Isha approaches it with care, preparation, and a clear understanding of what is at stake for the person she represents.
A Commitment to Fairness & Access to Justice
Isha’s commitment to advocacy began before she entered the legal profession.
She completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of British Columbia, along with a Minor in Gender, Race, Sexuality and Social Justice. Her studies gave her a deeper understanding of systemic inequality, social structures, and the barriers that can affect individuals and communities.
During law school, Isha volunteered with a community legal clinic, working alongside lawyers to provide pro bono legal services to low-income individuals and underserved communities. The experience reinforced her belief that access to justice is fundamental and that everyone deserves to be heard and taken seriously within the legal system.
These experiences continue to shape Isha’s approach to practice, particularly when representing clients who may feel marginalized, misunderstood, or overwhelmed by the justice system.
Clear Guidance Through the Legal Process
The criminal justice system can be intimidating and difficult to navigate. Isha believes strong legal representation also means making sure clients understand what is happening at every stage.
She explains clients’ rights, available options, potential consequences, and the strategy being pursued on their behalf. Her goal is to make an unfamiliar process more understandable while ensuring each client receives focused and determined representation.
Isha recognizes that a criminal charge can affect much more than the court proceeding itself. A client’s reputation, employment, family, immigration status, and future may all be affected. She approaches each file with those broader consequences in mind.
Family Law With a Client-Focused Approach
In addition to criminal defence, Isha practises family law, assisting clients with sensitive and often highly personal family matters.
She brings the same thoughtful, practical, and compassionate approach to her family practice. Isha takes the time to understand each client’s circumstances, explain their options clearly, and help them make informed decisions during what can be an uncertain and emotionally difficult period.
In Your Corner
Whether defending a client against serious criminal allegations, assisting with an appeal, or helping a family navigate a difficult legal transition, Isha is committed to providing strong advocacy, practical legal guidance, and dedicated representation.
She believes every client deserves an advocate who will understand their circumstances, take their concerns seriously, and stand firmly in their corner.
